ENVELOPE Contributes to New White Paper on 6G KPIs by SNS JU TMV Working Group

The Test, Measurement, and KPIs Validation (TMV) Working Group of the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) has published a comprehensive white paper titled “6G KPIs—Definitions and Target Values.” The paper offers a unified view of the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) currently shaping Europe’s vision for 6G networks, consolidating input from numerous SNS JU projects.

The ENVELOPE Project is proud to have contributed to this important effort, with Pavlos Basaras from I-SENSE Group / ICCS representing the project within the TMV Working Group.

The white paper outlines the KPI categories essential for designing, testing, and validating future 6G networks, including areas such as latency, reliability, mobility, energy efficiency, AI capabilities, electromagnetic fields (EMF), and positioning. It also introduces contextual KPIs tailored to new and emerging use cases such as extended reality (XR), digital twins, and network-assisted mobility, while emphasizing sustainability and alignment with global standards like ITU-R IMT-2030.

ENVELOPE’s contribution supports the paper’s goal of promoting consistent, measurable, and realistic performance targets for 6G systems—paving the way for practical testing and deployment strategies that reflect European values and priorities.
