ENVELOPE at ETSI MEC#40

From December 9–12, 2024, with active participation from Lenovo, ENVELOPE had the privilege to attend the ETSI MEC#40 meeting in Athens, Greece, gaining invaluable insights into the latest advancements of ETSI MEC Phase 4 specifications.

ENVELOPE is considering the ETSI MEC framework to enhance the integration of Edge Computing into advanced B5G systems, a cornerstone of connected and automated mobility (CAM) solutions. Our participation allowed us to explore synergies between ENVELOPE’s large-scale trials and MEC’s goals, such as improving edge computing for dynamic CAM services and enabling cross-domain coordination for seamless operation across large geographical areas.

We engaged with ETSI MEC experts, discussing challenges such as enabling scalable vertical-aware edge computing and cross-domain service continuity for CAM services. These conversations enriched our understanding of key MEC enablers and improved our ability to address challenges like end-to-end latency monitoring and dynamic reconfiguration of computing resources. ENVELOPE’s approach ensures compatibility with evolving MEC standards while pioneering advancements in CAM technologies.
